30L Ecoboost. Available in the Platinum and ST trims, this little engine looks to be quite a go getter. I'm not sure that it is worth paying $55k+ for the ST or "double diamond coated, super titanium enriched" Explorer to get it. Savagegeese an auto reviewer on youtube reviewed the Explorer Platinum trim level. The2.3 EcoBoost is more powerful than the 2.0 EcoBoost, both in terms of peak performance and the overall powerband. The 2.0 EcoBoost makes between 203–250 horsepower and 221–280 lb-ft of torque. In contrast, the 2.3 EcoBoost produces a minimum of 270–350 horsepower and 305–350 lb-ft of torque.

27 vs 3.5 Ecoboost Towing Capacity. There is no contest here. The 3.5L is going to be better in all towing and hauling categories over the 2.7L. The 2.7L V6 can haul up to 9,000 pounds or more with a good towing package. But it can only haul up to 2470 pounds in its bed.

Towing Compared to the 2.7 EcoBoost, the 3.5 EcoBoost is capable of towing about 4,000 lbs and more. In fact, the 3.5L engine on the F-150 offers the best towing capacity. The same applies to payload capacity. Most F-150 owners, however, will probably be happy with their 2.7-L engine’s towing capacity.
2015- 2020 F150 - 3.5 Ecoboost gen 1 versus Gen 2 - I'm looking for some input from those of you who have experience with both the Gen1 and Gen 2 3.5 EcoBoost engine. Are the improvements Ford made to the Gen 2 engine a big deal? Torque and power seem pretty close. Is the mileage better or worse on the gen 2 engine? UhIKNy.
